Build Local. Build Better.
Build with a Member.

Acadian Home Builders Association (AHBA) is a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade organization founded in 1960 by a group of visionary builders who saw the need to form an organization dedicated to advancing the home building industry in Lafayette and the surrounding areas. Over the years, AHBA has grown to become an influential association in Acadiana representing over 700 members in four parishes: Lafayette, Acadia, St. Landry, St. Martin, & Vermillion. AHBA includes home builders as well as associate members whose industries support building such as real estate companies, mortgage lenders, and various subcontractors.

The Acadian Home Builders Association is a chapter of the Louisiana Home Builders Association (LHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and all members belong to all three organizations. AHBA strives to make Acadiana a better place to live through collaboration, political action, education and philanthropy.

Acadian Home Builders Association is an organization of licensed builders and associates formed to promote professionalism and ethical business practices in providing quality housing that creates value for the homeowner and the community.

The Voice of the Housing Industry

One of the functions of the Acadian Home Builders Association is to be the voice of its members when it comes to important legislative issues. AHBA monitors the interests of the homebuilding industry by supporting pro-housing legislation on the local, state, and national level. The association serves as a political watch dog and advocate for both consumers and home builders.

AHBA is dedicated to the Acadiana community. In keeping with its official mission statement, the membership utilizes some of its major events to support Lafayette agencies which strive to provide shelter to those less fortunate and experiencing troubled times. AHBA's adopted charities include Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, Healing House for Grieving Children, and St. Michael Center for Veterans. Every year, AHBA partners with KATC-TV 3 to hold the Home for the Holidays project which over the years has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to these organizations.

AHBA also has a commitment to education. The organization exhibits this commitment by supporting those institutions that strive to produce a skilled workforce for the residential construction industry. AHBA awards scholarships each year to deserving students in the University of Lafayette Industrial Technology (I-TECH) Department's construction program and also supports an endowed professorship in Construction Technology. AHBA works closely with the university to develop program curriculum which will ultimately prepare the students for the increasingly complex home building industry.
